Events
The pandemic limited events in 2020. However, many streets organised distanced concerts and social events, when allowed.
We could not organise Open Gardens in June and so it went online. Many residents posted photos and tours of their gardens on Facebook.
Argyle and Chester Streets could not have their annual Street Party and so there was a Safe Space Event in August. This was a fun afternoon on the Recreation Ground with wellie throwing, music, ball games and children’s competitions, all carefully arranged to be safe for everyone.
Open Gardens 2022

Our gardens were open on Sunday 26 June 2022. It was a sunny day and hugely enjoyable community event, Tanks to thetalented gardeners and the organisers for making this so happen and be such a lovely community event after a break of 3 years.
We raised over £1100 which is being donated to the Porch, Restore and IFRA.

Jubilee party 4 June- outside the Chester Arms
Samantha Robertson, who helped organise the party writes:
Weather was a bit horrid first thing but what a fantastic sunny afternoon emerged, all you cheery community make me proud of all to live in OX4.
People brought stuff for the BBQ and humongous yummy cakes and that were scrumptious, and the onion bhajis went down a storm There were games for children, and plenty of chalk for road artistry for adults & children, quizzes. Fantastic opportunity to just meet new friends and future contacts.
Huge thanks to; All the Street Support Connectors, Cllr Emily Kerr for getting the roads closed, Becky & all the wonderful staff @ The Chester for allowing us to set up outside. For music thanks go to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, in particular Douglas & the wonderful Jazz ensemble, (including Alex, David Merrill & choir.) The addition of Justin's shaker's went down a storm & and music from Douglas, including a lovely song penned by him! John May - our camera fabulous man to give up his valuable time, to name but a heart warming few, they all know who they are, you are all stars!
Many thanks All, for the mutual success of our fantastic, amazing community street party.
Jumble trail
Sunday 27th June 2021
The Jumble Trail gave us the opportunity wander round the IFRA streets to see what’s on offer and find surprise talents, chat with neighbours, share enthusiasms and learn about our local area! Using front grdens and positioned to allow for COVID 19 safety precautions, residents sold arts and crafts, home-made jams, cakes, plants, and other items or left stuff for people to pick up for free.
The Community event was a chance to find out about some local charities: Asylum Welcome, Oxford Mutual Aid, Comper Foundation & SS Mary & John School’s amongst others.
